Community Pays Respects to Veterans
With a day in May set aside to pay tribute to those veterans who paid the ultimate price in sacrificing their lives in times of war in defense of freedom, it never feels like one day is enough. After all, these veterans gave up every day of their lives. Those who died in battle or were POW-MIAs, never recaptured the lives they led before answering their country's call. Those who were wounded in battle and are spending their remaining days in a VA hospital continue to give a part of themselves and all those who have served know the price that has to be paid for freedom.

Final Mustang Run Proceeds go to WTC Families
While many volunteers were busy stuffing envelopes in preparation for the annual Mineola Mustang Run in November, the final proceeds from the last run were being distributed in a special way.

Mineola Auxiliary Police's infield of Luke Escobar at first, Zachary Englis at second, Stevie Mogavero at S.S., Kevin Hariman at third and Robby Clarkin at the pitcher's area, all made good fielding plays. Zachary and Stevie made two good throws to first basemen Luke Escobar. Luke was two for three at the plate.

Mineola Mustangs Sports Report
The Mineola High School girls lacrosse team played in the ultra rugged Conference I, but survived. The effort paid dividends because the Lady Laxers made the Nassau County playoffs. The Mustangs then opened the playoffs with a victory over Glen Cove.
