Mineola Chamber's Terry Mooney and Daniel Fitzgerald combined on a one hitter and Mineola came away with a 2-0 winner. All the scoring came in the fourth on a single by Daniel Fitzgerald and a RBI double by Terry Mooney. Terry stole third and home for all the scoring.
Chamber's catcher Carmine Sarno was like a cat behind the plate making two outstanding plays on balls hit about three feet in front of home. John Englis and John Sullivan made two outstanding plays at second and third respectively. Tommy Flynn pitched three strong innings for Astoria, not allowing a hit.
Nassau Chromium 11, Mineola Florist 0
Nassau Chromium Defeats Mineola Florist in Combined one hitter.
After opening the season with a disappointing 0 -3 record, Saturday's victory help to improve Nassau Chromium's record to 2 - 3 - 1.
After Cyril Sebastian led-off the game for Mineola Florist with a walk, Victor Ramos was hit by a pitch and Gregg Seles loaded them up when he too was hit. Nassau Chromium needed to make a pitching change and brought in Michael Escobar. Escobar snuffed out the threat by striking out the next three batters. With the exception of Billy Sullivan's single in the top of the third, Escobar was prefect over the first three innings.
Nassau Chromium plated two runs in the bottom of the third. Brian Williams reached first on a bloop single. Nick Moran was hit by a pitch and Robert Collier followed with an in-field single loading the bases. Anthony Della Ratta drew a walk forcing home a run and Joe Morra followed with a fielders choice that knocked in the second run of the game. Chromium scored two more runs in the fourth as Brendan Maloney and Andrew Ines both singled with the bases loaded.
Chromium broke the game open in the bottom of the fifth scoring 7 runs giving Matt Manteria plenty of room to work with on the mound. Manteria pitched the last three innings of the game striking out 7 while giving up no hits.

K's Auto Repair 5, Barnwell House of Tires 4
K's Auto Repair and Barnwell House of Tires met for the second time this season and reprised a tremendous down to the wire matchup with K's evening the series with a nail biting 5-4 victory.
K's sprinted to a quick 4-0 lead in the first inning. Scotty Mogavero singled and stole through third. A double by TJ Winters plated the first run before Winters was nailed trying to steal third on a great relay from catcher Sal Massa. After a Jack Clarke single, Emal Rustemi doubled to the gap in center for an RBI and came around on a Danny McAree single. Mike Cerquiera closed out the offense with a ribby double.
Barnwell inched back with single runs in the second and third innings. Matt Saketos singled and scored when Brendan O'Halloran drew a bases loaded walk. Anthony Fabrico notched the second run with a single and steal in front of a John Carlo Clancy one bagger.
K's gained an important insurance run in the bottom of the fifth. Cerquiera singled and took second on a surprise steal. William Luca then fired a clutch two out double to the outfield for what would prove to be the game winning hit. Barnwell's rally caps were in place for the final stanza when Fabrico and Massa managed back to back doubles to lead off and Clancy stroked his second hit of the game.
K's turned the ball to their closer, Clarke, who notched a pair of strikeouts sandwiched between another Saketos single. With runners on first and third, Clarke got a fumbled come backer to the mound for the final out of the game as the tying run was heading home. K's got great pitching from Winters (5 strikeouts), Nick Franzini (6), McAree (2) and Clarke. K's and Barnwell look forward to their next meeting on May 22 based on the outcome of the first pair.
K's Auto Repair 3, Nassau Chromium 3
In what may well be one of the best MAA Minors games in recent years, K's Auto Repair and Nassau Chromium played an exciting eight inning 3-3 tie on May 4 that was filled with ironies and great plays and an absence of mental and physical errors.
The Chromies took an early advantage when Brendan Maloney walked and wheeled his way to third base on steals. Two out RBI doubles by Matt Manteria and Brian Williams tallied a pair of critical scores. The Chrome Domers added another run in the third on the speed of a single and steals by Nicholas Riccardi. Robert Collier's shot to the pitcher was slow enough to bring home the run for a 3-0 lead.
K's leveled the game in the last half of the third. Bases on balls to Ryan Timlin and Luke Ruzek and a hit batswoman to Amanda Hassett filled the sacks. Joe Attard singled home his first RBI of the season and Danny McAree's fielders choice plated another duo for the tie. The game's drama would escalate over the next five innings for both squads.
Michael Escobar stopped the bleeding for Nassau with four strikeouts in two innings. McAree matched him with three strikeouts and a line drive stab back to the box. Emal Rustemi also fielded a solid fly to left to close out an inning. Both managers then turned the game to their staff aces, Matt Manteria for Chromium and TJ Winters for the Grease Guys. Winters came in with the bases loaded and no outs in the sixth and forced the first out at the plate before closing with a pair of real K's. Manteria made the play of the game in the seventh. With the winning run in the form of McAree on third, Winters blasted a rocket back up the middle which Manteria snared on a life altering play for the final out before striking out the side in the eighth. Winters found trouble in both the seventh and eighth before pitching out of jams to leave stranded runs on third in both innings. Remarkably, despite its length and an umpire delay, the game was halted for curfew after only two hours - a testament to the outstanding play by both teams.
If possible and absolutely probable, this game will resume at a later date. The decider will no doubt result in pitching depth as both teams have grounded their staffs to the minimum.
Mineola Florist vs. Barnwell House of Tires
It was something of a pitcher's duel as former Blackhawk roller hockey teammates John Carlo Clancy of Barnwell House of Tires and Thomas McKeever of Mineola Florist faced off. Clancy held Florist down for three innings, and McKeever did the same, allowed just one hit and no runs.
McKeever, who has not walked a batter in four outings this season, came in after Mike Castellano pitched the first and second innings. Nolan McKeown saved Tom's bacon by fielding two sharply hit grounders to second for easy tosses to first baseman Billy Sullivan.
Down 3-1 in the sixth, Brian Murphy of Mineola Florist clubbed a drive to center for a double and then scored on errant throws. At 3-2 with the game on the line in the sixth, Mineola Florist got the bases loaded when walked by pitcher Anthony Fabrico, who admitted not having his best stuff. But, Fabrico got the final out when Victor Ramos' laser shot to short was booted, but then snagged by Clancy, now at third, who stomped on the bag just ahead of charging base runner Andrew Koletski.
