Residents around the area of Clarissa Road may have noticed a traffic study being conducted. Just recently, the Mineola Village Board of Trustees declined the application by Metro Centers to purchase Clarissa Road.

At the time of the hearing, Mayor John P. Colbert requested a traffic study from Metro Centers. A traffic study had not been done prior to the hearing. However, the board declined the application after several area residents spoke out against the sale of the street.

According to the mayor, Metro Centers is conducting a traffic study of the area, but it will not change the board's mind to sell the street. "The thing is dead," Mayor Colbert said. "I don't see any change there as long as I'm around."

Metro Centers head Jon Otto confirmed that a traffic study is being conducted. Otto said he plans on meeting with area residents in the future to discuss possible alternatives to the site. Residents had objected to Otto's future plans to build a new shopping center with a supermarket on the property.
