To commemorate Arbor Day, the Village of Mineola planted a tree in front of the Mineola Historical Society headquarters on Westbury Avenue. The tree was planted in memory of John "Jack" Hehman, the former president of the Mineola Historical Society whose dedication helped preserve the history of Mineola.

A plaque was placed in memory of Mr. Hehman, who passed away earlier this year. His wife Marie was present for the dedication, which took place on Friday at 9 a.m.

Pictured (l-r) are village Trustees Linda Fairgrieve and Elizabeth Conlon, Mayor John P. Colbert, Marie Hehman, Village Historian Neil Young, Deputy Mayor Lou Santosus and Village Trustee Jack Martins.
