Stuart J. Aston, 41, of Mineola, formerly of New Zealand and Australia, died on March 23, 2002. Father of Samuel and James. Companion of Jennifer. He is also survived by his mother and other family members in New Zealand and Australia. Arrangements were made by the Fairchild Chapel, Garden City. Contributions can be made to the Samuel Merwarth-Aston Educational Trust Fund, 12 Mulberry Ave., Garden City, NY 11530. Steven G. Walsh, of Mineola, died on March 25, 2002. He was a corporate trainer at Quick and Reilly, Inc., NYC. Husband of Diane. Father of Christopher, Gregory and Laura. Son of Frances and the late Francis Walsh. Brother of Kathleen, Richard, Susan, Frances Shackel, Patricia Novis, Michael and John. Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by the Cassidy Funeral Home, Mineola. Funeral Mass at St. Anne's RC Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Janice L. Koetje (Mursch), of Kalamazoo, MI, died on April 6, 2002. Janice was born on Sept. 9, 1922 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Orville Sr. and Muriel (Smith) Shetterly. She worked for 11 years at Western Michigan University. Janice enjoyed many outdoor activities including: gardening, feeding the birds and squirrels, mushrooming and fishing. She was an avid card player, especially pinnacle. Janice was preceded in death by her first husband Robert R. Mursch Jr. in 1963. On June 10, 1983 she was united in marriage to Ronald J. Koetje who survives. Also surviving are four loving children, Robert R. Jr. (Ausma) Mursch of Mineola,, Marsha (Jonathan) Mursch Nardone of Plymouth, MI, David (Kay) Mursch of Richland, MI, John B. (Cindi) Mursch of Delton, MI; three grandchildren, Stephanie, Andrew and Carson Mursch; one great-granddaughter Brittany Nelson; two sisters, Eloise Burggraf and Florence Try, both of Mattawan, MI; three brothers, Orville Shetterly of Kalamazoo, Kenneth Shetterly of Kalamazoo and Robert Shetterly of Huntsville, AL; two stepchildren, Julie (Darwin) Harrison of Mattawan and Kimberly (Dan) Alonzi of Alma, MI; and many nieces and nephews. The family received friends at the Betzler Funeral Home, Kalamazoo. Service with Rev. Dr. Robert R. Mursch officiating. Interment Mt. Ever Rest Cemetery.
