The Adam Paul Spizz Memorial Foundation is proud to sponsor the First Annual Friends & Family Fun 5K Walk/Run on Sunday, April 14 at Grace Avenue Park in Great Neck.
Registration for the event, which will benefit the Cancer Center for Kids at Winthrop-University Hospital, will take place from 7:30 until 8:30 a.m. Start time for runners will be 9 a.m., and for walkers 9:30 a.m.
There will be a special guest appearance by Wacky Wendy (The Mad Hatter), and the event will include raffles, prizes and handouts.
The Cancer Center for Kids at Winthrop is known throughout the region for its comprehensive treatment programs for youngsters with cancer and blood-related disorders. Highly trained professionals diagnose and treat the young patients with sensitivity and compassion. Their specialized training combined with Winthrop's state-of-the-art technology and access to newly developed protocols, creates an environment that promotes healing.
The Spizz family, through their foundation, supports Winthrop's Psychosocial Program which gives families, dealing with cancer, the emotional safety net they so desperately need to get through the experience.
