The reincarnated Mineola High School track team finished off a fine season, the school's first track contingent in more than two decades. Eight members of the team advanced to the Nassau County Finals. Three of them came home with top ten finishes in their events. Freshman Nicole Lapin placed eighth in the high jump. Sophomore Joe Stigliano nailed down a fifth place finish in the high jump. Senior Trumainn Thurmond was seventh in the 300-meter run.

Coach Kristen Degnan also pointed out that junior Beth Basile and freshman Juliet Barber started off the day with great races in the 55 and the 600, while freshman Tim Palma ran his best team of the season in the 600. The coach also said that juniors Anthony Wong and David Rivera ran their best times of the season as they teamed with Stigliano and Palma to place fourth in the heat of the 4X400 relay.

Coach Degnan concluded by congratulating her entire winter track team for doing a great job in their first season. The coach is looking forward to the school's first outdoor season in nearly 25 years. It'll be interesting to see what kind of turnout of athletes there is after the indoor season went so well.
