Senator Michael Balboni encourages all students in grades 1- 8 to enter the I-Ma-Green-Nation Competition. The goal of this program is to develop an awareness of the environment and in particular, the importance of recycling and waste reduction.

The program will begin with registration at 6:30 p.m., followed by the lecture at 7. It will be held at Winthrop's Community Outreach Center, located at 101 Mineola Blvd. in Mineola. Steven Zeldis, MD, Attending Cardiologist at Winthrop, will discuss risk factors for heart disease and provide information on reducing your risk through a healthy lifestyle. He will also include a discussion of some of the more recent treatment advances. A question and answer period will follow the lecture.

Elise Belilos, MD, Director of Women's Health Program in Rheumatology at Winthrop, will focus on a wide spectrum of autoimmune disease and explain the differences between some disorders. She will highlight some of the more common conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, among others, as well as available treatments.
