There will be a Board of Trustees Meeting on Jan. 2 at 7:30 p.m., at the Village Hall, 155 Washington Avenue. The public is invited to attend.
Per the 2000 Census our village has a population of 19,234 and 7,650 housing units.
The Board of Zoning and Appeals will hold a public hearing on Thursday, Jan. 17, at 8 p.m., at the Village Hall 155 Washington Avenue regarding the application for a variance at 214 Brown Street to construct a second floor dormer with insufficient front yard set back.
Plans and specifications are on file in the Office of the Village Clerk.
All those wishing to be heard regarding this application will be given the opportunity to do so.
The permit to commence construction was recently issued.
Our village is blessed by the number of people who donate their time and talents.
Two such volunteers are Mary Mahoney and Melissa Devlin.
Mary Mahoney, an advanced emergency medical technician, served as the vice president and president in the year 2000/2001 of the Mineola Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Melissa Devlin, an emergency medical technician, served as a trustee of the Mineola Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Both of these women are to be congratulated and thanked for their dedication to serve the needs of our residents.
I would like to thank all those who donated toys for the "Toys for Tots" Marine Corps Reserve Program.
New York City Transit's Cooperative Education Program began in 1999. This program is currently only recruiting engineering, computer technology and business administration students.
Co-op students are required to be matriculated in a bachelor's or graduate degree program in one of the above mentioned areas and have an overall grade point average of 2.6.
