Mineola Magic, the girls U-13 travel soccer team, played an exciting game against the Hicksville Rising Stars on Sunday, Oct. 21. The weather was bright and sunny that afternoon and the entire team performed very well. Magic would like to welcome Magda Jachowicz and Kathleen Flynn as the latest additions to the team.

Shortly after the game began, Mineola went on the offensive attack. At 2:39 Allie Kain scored the first goal of the game following a throw -n from Nicole DeStefano. At 7:23 Kim Stillwell scored the second goal after a corner kick. At 23:00 an opposing player narrowly missed kicking the ball into their own net. At 33:20 Maggie Garcia made a strong attempt that was blocked by the Hicksville goalie. Reacting quickly three seconds later, at 33:23, Grace Martorella made another attempt that went over the net. The Mineola defense consisting of Jennifer Port, Kelly LaRose and Magda Jachowicz did such a great job that Hicksville was unable to make a single shot on the Mineola goal during the first half. The first half ended with Mineola up 2 - 0.

Eager to get into the offensive action, Alyssa Glenn moved from goalie to forward, trading positions with Lynn Franciotti. Kerri O'Connell made an attempt at 1:52. At 5:12 Alyssa Glenn made another attempt. At 14:18 Jennifer Port, who normally plays defense, scored her first goal with a high lofting arc kick following a throw-in. At 15:40 Alyssa Glenn made another attempt. At 20:27 Mineola goalie touched the ball and kicked it back for the first and only time during the game. At 24:05 Grace Martorella made another attempt. At 30:15 Allie Kain made another attempt. At 32:18 Allie Kain made the final score for Mineola. Grace Martorella made one final attempt at 33:56 and the game ended with Mineola defeating Hicksville 4 - 0.
