Osteoporosis affects more than half of the women over age 50 and more than 90 percent of those over age 75. Men and women can learn about theses advances at Winthrop-University Hospital's free Perspectives in Health lecture "Osteoporosis; "Bone Up" on New Advances" on Tuesday, Oct. 16.
The program will begin with registration at 6:30 p.m., followed by the lecture at 7. It will be held at the Winthrop Community Outreach Center, located at 101 Mineola Blvd. in Mineola, at the corner of Second Street. Parking is available in the rear of the building.
Jane Moore, RN, BSN, Clinical Research Coordinator of the Bone Mineral Research Center at Winthrop, will discuss medical advances in the treatment of osteoporosis, as well as new medications on the horizon. A question and answer period will follow.
