Mineola and USA Pride
As they marched east on Jericho Turnpike toward the football field near Hampton Street, the youngsters representing the Mineola School District's elementary schools chanted, "USA, USA." Not only did Mineola homecoming mark a celebration of Mustang red and black, but it also represented a community spirit in the red, white and blue.

Village Salutes Volunteers at Public Meeting
Last Wednesday's public meeting of the Mineola Village Board was the first since the tragic attack on the World Trade Center. In a ceremony, the village invited representatives of the Mineola Volunteer Fire Department and Mineola Volunteer Ambulance Corps since both organizations contributed to the rescue effort at the World Trade Center.

Mischief Unbeaten in Divisional Play
The Mineola Mischief continued their success on the weekend of September 29 with a divisional win over the Great Neck Thunder by a score of 2-1. The Boys U-10 travel squad also competed in their first State Cup contest against neighboring rivals, the Garden City Fire. The Mischief is currently atop LIJSL Division NN with a 3-0 record and a perfect nine point total.

Mineola Mustang Run Committee Meeting Oct. 14
The Mineola Mustang Run Committee will hold its next meeting on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. at Mineola Village Hall, located at 155 Washington Avenue, Mineola. All persons of whatever age (runners, walkers or non-runners and walkers) are invited to come to the meeting. Contact Trustee Linda Fairgrieve at 294-5914 for further information. At this meeting plans will be discussed for the event and also work will be done to send out the mailing to the runners/walkers.
