To show their appreciation for the attention officer Harry Reddan of the Third Precinct's Problem Orienting Policing (POP) has given Mineola, the Mineola Civic Association has circulated petitions to have newly promoted Sergeant Reddan stay in the Third Precinct.

Randi's Kicks Off Coats for Kids
The Coats for Kids campaign, a highly successful project that attempts to provide winter coats for children, kicked off in Mineola last week with a ceremony at Randi's Cleaners, one of the participating members of the Neighborhood Cleaners Association (NCA), which sponsors the project.

Mineola Red Heat Defeat Rosedale 4-1
Mineola Red Heat, the boys U-15 travel soccer team, played the third scheduled game of their fall season against the Rosedale All Stars on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001. The second game was postponed due to the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001. Out of respect for the people who lost their lives in this attack and to honor the rescue workers involved in the recovery, the game was preceded by a moment of silence with all players, coaches and referees lined up in the middle of the field.

Mischief Storm to Second Win
The Mineola Mischief gained their second victory of the season with a dominant performance over the North Shore Storm at Wilson Field on September 22. The U-10 Boys avenged an earlier 7-0 shellacking with a 5-2 pasting in the third week of the LIJSL season. The sanctioning body followed precedent and postponed the prior week's schedule due to current events. The Mischief put the vacation to good use.
