In the past two months there were numerous days when your water department "pumped" in excess of four and a half million gallons.
There are many things you can do to reduce water consumption. One of the major "users" of water in our homes is the washing machine. A "typical" household does almost 400 loads of laundry a year which uses almost 40 gallons of water per full load with an older conventional washer.
Energy Star clothes washers use less water to get the clothes clean. They use only 20 - 25 gallons of water per load which is a savings of approximately 7,000 gallons of water per year.
Other water conservation tips are: check for leaky faucets, pipes and toilets and when cleaning your driveway and sidewalks use a broom not your hose.
Our schools will be reopening next week. Please be mindful of this when you are driving.
