There will be a Public Hearing on Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 6:30 p.m. at the Village Hall, 155 Washington Avenue regarding the following local laws:
A proposed local law amending Chapter 30 of the Mineola Municipal Code entitled "Zoning" Article VII, entitled "Accessory Structures and Uses", 30.789B) entitled "Parking of Vehicles, etc." to eliminate special use permit provision for the parking of commercial vehicles on residentially zoned premises, and a proposed local law amending Chapter 72 of the Mineola Municipal Code, entitled "Refuse", Article III, entitled "Collection Regulations", by adding thereto 72.34 (c) (1) and (2), to establish regulations to prohibit the removal of deposit recyclables by private persons.
The public is encouraged to attend these hearings.

Tallow is the white fat of cattle and sheep that was used in soap and candles and Mineola was known as the Branch in 1847.
Asthma suffers can take control of their asthma with an Adult Asthma Education Course offered by Winthrop- University Hospital's Pulmonary Rehabilitation Division beginning Sept. 12. Classes will be conducted by registered nurses and respiratory therapists with years of clinical experience in asthma management. They will be held on Wednesday evenings: Sept. 12, 19 & 26, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., at 222 Station Plaza North in Mineola.
During the three-week program, each participant will receive an asthma workbook, a peak flow meter, and individualized instruction on how to use inhaled medication. There will also be an opportunity to meet and share feelings with other asthmatics.

LIPA has a "special" department (Critical Facility) where homebound on life support systems should register.
Your physician should contact this department when prescribing a "life support system".
LIPA uses this information to advise the registrants when there will be planned power interruptions and in emergencies, if possible, how long the "power" will be out.
