Nagler Is New Man at High School
It seems as though the Mineola School District is forever searching for replacements for those administrators who have recently announced their departure from the district. After a search to replace former Mineola High School Principal Jay Lewis, who left after the end of the school year to become the principal at Ward Melville High School, the district hired one of its own.

Mineola Red Heat Takes First Place Again
After winning first place in their division last fall and moving up from Division 6 to Division 5, Mineola Red Heat, the boys U-15 travel soccer team, took first place in their division for the second year in a row. Last years victory resulted from an undefeated record. Division 5 competition was tougher this season. Mineola edged out Hewlett by one point to achieve first place with a record of 6 wins, 2 losses and 1 tie. Coach Vito Errico and assistant Robert Franciotti were very pleased with the result of all of the team's hard work.

Tournament Shows Pride
Last week the Mineola Athletic Association hosted the 2001 New York State Little League Championship series, which was held at the Willis Avenue Field complex. At this time I would like to thank and commend the employees of the Mineola Department of Public Works (Superintendent Tom Rini, Asst. Superintendent Ron Ciesinski, Giacomo Ciccone, Rob Arena, Peter Saia, Giovanni Cavezza, Amilcar Lopes, Leonardo DeRisi, Frank Temperino, Sean McCrave, Jose Carvalho, Bill Klein, Dennis McCrave and Alex Ramahlete) for all their hard work, dedication and effort put into the baseball complex at Willis Avenue. You men did a great job!
