Mineola Honors Veterans With Parade
Mineola is fortunate enough to have two active veteran organizations - the American Legion Memorial Post 349 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Private Adolph Block Post 1305. Members of both organizations including commanders Carl Marchese and Manny Grilo made certain the community did not forget the veterans who made the supreme sacrifice to preserve America's freedom by holding a parade and ceremony on Memorial Day.

School District Gets Their Man
Anyone with children in the Mineola School District knows that the district is headed for some major changes, starting in the superintendent's position. With Dr. Harry Jaroslaw retiring, the board has apparently found his replacement. The district's CEO position has been offered to Larry LiCopoli, who comes to Mineola from the Chatham Central School District, which is near Albany.

K's Auto Rolls On
K's Auto Repair (7-1) maintained their one-half game lead in the Minors Division with a hard fought 6-4 win over Mineola Bicycle. In a quickly paced game on a beautiful late Saturday afternoon, this game had everything good baseball deserves - solid pitching, good defense, aggressive base running and lots of hitting.

Mineola Mustangs Report
Three Mineola Mustang teams earned playoff berths. However, the trio got no further than the appetizer at the postseason feast. The girls varsity lacrosse team dropped a first round decision to Lynbrook 11-6. The baseball team fell to Roslyn 3-1. The softball team dropped a 6-5 nine-inning heartbreaker to Island Trees.
