The Mineola High School Alumni Foundation, a non-profit educational foundation, announced the launching of their website on the Internet at www.mineolahsalumni.com.
Co-presidents Paul Cusato and Larry Swensen said they hoped that this will help alumni from Mineola High School keep in touch with their home community as well as serve as an important link between the school and its past graduates.
The foundation was formed in 1999 and has been officially recognized by the Mineola School District Board of Education. Their membership has been steadily growing and they have been receiving financial support from local businesses that are owned by Mineola High School alumni.
The fact that many former graduates live all over the world makes the website an important tool for them. According to the Alumni Foundation, they have members from as far back as the Class of 1939 and as far away as Argentina and Australia. They operate financially from a modest membership fee and from donations from alumni. The monies they collect go, in part, to scholarships for Mineola High School graduating seniors.
