School Budget Reflects, Supports Bond Planning
At the April 5 meeting of the Mineola Union Free School District Board of Education, the board voted to adopt a budget of $57,488,644 for the 2001-2002 school year. The 2001-2002 budget reflects a $4,760,527 or a 9 percent increase over the 2000-2001 school budget of $52,728,117 that the district is currently operating under.

On a Saturday afternoon, Sayville Lanes, which hosted the state championships for bowling, were alive with the sounds of bowling balls striking pins, jubilation or the exhalation of a deep breath taken to relieve some of the tension that comes with such a high level of competition.
Mineola 5th Graders Tie For First Place
The Mineola Chiefs 5th grade team came up big this past Sunday with a huge win against Lynbrook. Playing at home, the Chiefs dominated Lynbrook from the first face-off, a particularly impressive feat since Lynbrook has a history of having very good lacrosse teams.
Mineola Lady Laxers Playoff Bound
The Mineola High School girls varsity lacrosse team has assured itself a spot in the Nassau County Playoffs for the second year in a row. The postseason clincher came in the Lady Mustangs' 15 to 11 win over South Side. But, as Coach Katie Sheehan said, "The rest of the season will determine how highly we are seeded. The team still has its eye on another conference championship, though that will only come with well-earned victories over Friends Academy, Glen Cove and Floral Park.
