Corpus Christi Boys 5th Grade Basketball team's "dream season" came to an end with a hard fought loss to Our Lady of Mercy 42-32 in the quarter finals of the CYO Nassau/Suffolk basketball playoffs. Corpus Christi reached the elite eight with an impressive 37-26 win over St. Joseph of Hewlett in the second round, but succumbed to a very talented team from Our Lady of Mercy of Hicksville.

The team of Chris Brostek, Michael Diglio, Tommy Flynn, T.J. Gessner, Daniel LaMonica, Frankie Lao, Alex Lopes, Jimmy Murtha and Brendan Reedy, should feel nothing but pride in themselves for all the effort and hard work that they put into this season. Some of their accomplishments are as follows: First place in their region with an 11-1 record and 18-2 overall; two invitational tournament championships, and a final ranking of eighth, in all of Long Island, in the CYO fifth grade "C" Division, which includes over 80 teams from Riverhead to Long Beach.

Finally, Coach Keith Gessner gives a special thanks to his assistant coach Tom Brostek and to all the parents who were so helpful and supportive throughout this truly enjoyable season.
