To be a cantor in your synagogue you have to have a good voice like Jerry Manuta of Old Country Rd. Jerry is a retired cantor and he and his wife Vivian are very active these days with the Golden Age Club. The Manutas have lived in the village for 40 years.

Gerry Hanson is a DJ and he and his wife have an outfit called Hanson and Hanson. Some may remember Gerry's parents Jerry and Gertrude who were active in the West End Civic Association. They now reside in Florida.

Walter and Grace Crosby of Maple Place and Walter's mother Dorothy Bolson enjoyed lunch at The Milleridge Inn. The occasion was the 90th birthday of Mrs. Bolson. Walter is a former fire chief and a 40-year member of the department.

The new library is a gem. Twice its old size. When entering you are immediately impressed with the automatic doors. It has an outdoor terrace, a fireplace, many computers, a children's room, reference rooms, voluminous books and even an elevator.

Just before Cristmas carolers from Holy Trinity stopped at the Jericho Diner and regaled the guests with some fine old carols.

Jeanne Lazar does a great job as a lay reader at Corpus Christi Church.

Fred and Carol Yopp are back from a vacation in Las Vegas.

* * * *

Pete Fagiola and Lou Santosus had coffee together at our favorite diner. Pete was formerly the building inspector.

That delightful barmaid at O'Donnell's Irish Pub is Laura Blake of Arlington St. Laura formerly worked at Ziegfields and Time Out.

Harry and Evelyn Entenmann of Yale St., Williston Park, lunched at the Jericho. Harry is a 30 year member of the PBC.

Ray Giuliano of our Production Dept. is a former Mineola resident having lived with his wife Diane at Birchwood Ct. Ray is an ardent bowler and once met Andy Varipappa, the "Babe Ruth" of bowling.

Always good to see the colorful Sal Cataldo around town. For many years his fiery speeches bedeviled the village authorities.

* * * *

Bill Kaiser of Andrews Rd. was the first person to give us a Christmas greeting while out walking his dog.

* * * *

Father Robert Batule in his Christmas homily bemoaned the fact that the Dutch Parliament had recently passed a law legalizing euthanasia. He said that since this had been practiced illegally for so long in the Netherlands it was an easy step. Father Batule is a vigorous defender of life in all stages, born and unborn.

Sorry to hear that Pat McCrave is ill. This Christmas was the first time in 55 years he and Julie had not been together. Pat and Julie live on Brown St.

Mineola Chamber of Commerce member Attorney Lawrence Jones and Stephanie Bird partook of Christmas brunch at the Garden City Hotel.

Corpus Christi priest Tom Murphy and John DaVanzo breakfasted together at the Sparta Diner.

* * * *

Always good to see Pat and Bernadette O'Brien of Horton Highway. Pat is a retired lawyer and both are active in the Corpus Christi parish.
