Elmo A. DeLuca, formerly of Mineola, died on Nov. 13, 2000. He was past commander of Williston Park American Legion Post #144. Father of Diane Coleman, Lynne Monuski and Jeffrey E. DeLuca. Father-in-law of Donald Coleman and Jean D. DeLuca. Grandfather of Denise, Donald, Darrell, Russell, Dana, Joseph and Jeffrey. Great-grandfather of Russell P. Monuski Jr. Friend of Miriam. Nicholas R. Mortensen, 75, of Mineola and Mattituck, died on Nov. 14, 2000. He was born Nov. 15, 1924 in the Bronx, the son of George and Ann Cleary Mortensen. Mr. Mortensen was a retired Supreme Court clerk in Brooklyn. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Army as a tank driver in Central Europe. He was the executive secretary of the 8th Armored Division Association. Mr. Mortensen was post commander of the VFW and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus Post #2502. He also served on the Zoning Board of Mineola for 16 years; eight as chairman. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Susan E. Mortensen; daughter Susan M. Loveland of Mahopac; two sons, Nicholas J. of Huntington and Dennis M. of Mineola. He is also survived by seven grandchildren brother George and three sisters, Joyce Clements, Laura Bry and Carol Kane. Mr. Mortensen was predeceased by his beloved twin brother, Martin Mortensen on Oct. 25, 2000. Arrangements were made by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, Williston Park.
