Board, Public Raise Concerns Over CVS
Last week, representatives from CVS unveiled their plan to erect a new CVS pharmacy store on Jericho Turnpike in Mineola, between Emory and Andrews Roads. The plan called for the Reese Buick dealership, which is currently present at that location but is not in use, to be demolished and a CVS to be erected in its place. The plan, however, was met with many concerns voiced by Village of Mineola Mayor John P. Colbert, members of the village board as well as many residents. The main concerns involved the impact the store would have on traffic in that area and whether the presence of a CVS would disturb the quality of life for residents in that area.

Suspect Nabbed in Shooting of Mineola Man
Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a Mineola man who worked as a busboy for TJ Pooles Restaurant. The man was gunned down in March while on his way home to Washington Avenue from work.

Mineola Sweeps First Ever Mayor's Trophy Tournament
On Sunday, Nov. 12, the PAL held the first ever Mayor's Trophy Games against East Rockaway. During the day three Mineola PAL football teams -9-year-olds, 10-year-olds, and 11-year-olds - played their East Rockaway counterparts at Mineola Stadium in successive games. In coordination with the Village of East Rockaway, Mineola Mayor John P. Colbert presented each of the six teams that participated in the day a trophy to commemorate their participation in the tournament.
