To say that Mineola resident Scott Fairgrieve has had a lot on his mind in recent days may be an understatement. As chairman of the Mineola Mustang Run Committee, Fairgrieve has been busy organizing the biggest fund raiser of the year in Mineola, which will take place on Sunday. Through all the hard work campaigning for an elected office takes, Fairgrieve has also had his wife Linda on his mind. Linda, a trustee of the village, will be undergoing heart surgery. FULL STORY

On Tuesday, Oct. 31, the Mineola High School Rockettes, who perform in dance, kickline and "pom pom" events were treated to opening night at the Continental Airlines Arena at the Meadowlands in New Jersey. Although they were pleased to watch the New Jersey Nets professional basketball team play, they were most interested in viewing the Net dancers' performance at halftime. FULL STORY

Wizards played the Lynbrook/East Rockaway Strikers and the game ended in a 3-3 tie against the Strikers. Several girls from Mineola came out with injuries such as Alyssa Napolitano, Nicole Pitcavage and Diana Castellana. They hope to have all girls back this week against Bayside. Still out with an ankle injury was Valerie Jozef, who is sorely missed. Goal scorers were Jamie Medlock, who had two, and Maureen (Moe) Brown's first goal this year. Kristen Tubbs had two assists. The defense played tough and was led by Nicole Wenz, Melissa Bubelis and Maria Massa. Middies and forwards also played strong. The team has two more games and they hope to have a victorious finish.
