Loretta A. Baumbach (nee Smith), of Williston Park, died on Oct. 2, 2000. She was a member of the Rosary Altar Society, Catholic Daughters and a Parish Outreach driver coordinator at St. Aidan's Church, a member of the Williston Park Senior Citizens and a volunteer at St. Francis Hospital. Wife of the late Frank. Mother of Debra Conway, Richard Gerard and Ronald Baumbach. Mother-in-law of Ed, Diane, Elaine and Christine. Grandmother of Douglas, Elisa, Jason, Matt, Dan, Jim, Kevin, Ryan, Kaitlin, Eddie and Tiffany. Great-grandmother of Gabriel and Meg. Arrangements were made by the Weigand Bros. McAllister, of Williston Park, died on Oct. 3, 2000. Husband of the late Charlotte A. Father of Lawrence James McAllister. Nora Katz of Roslyn, the mother of former Mineola Chamber of Commerce President Gary Katz, died on October 12. She was 71.

Nora was a loving mother to Ron Katz of Woodbury, Doug Katz of Jericho, Gary Katz of Dix Hills and Cyndy Sigadel of Roslyn. She was married to Ken Katz of Great Neck, whose father Harry was once a trustee of the Village of Mineola.

Harry and Yetta Katz founded Harry Katz Floor Coverings, located at 450 Jericho Turnpike in Mineola, in 1932. The business has been in the family since then and is currently owned and operated by Gary Katz.

Nora was also a loving grandmother to Kimberly, Kerri, Harrison, Cory, Danny, Jayson, Allie, Kiera and Mikayla.
