Mineola U-11 girls took first place in their division, going undefeated in the two-day tournament. On Saturday, Oct. 7, the Mineola Wizards defeated the Hewlett Blue Stars 5-1. The second game was against the Alburndale Raiders, which Mineola won 4-0. Their third game was against the Wantagh-Seaford Slingshots and Mineola again came out on top, winning 4-1. The Wizards had a three-game winning streak, heading into Sunday.

The Wizards' final game was against the Albertson Astros. This contest proved to be a tough one and Mineola had to come back twice from a deficit to win 3-2. Mineola displayed both a strong offense and solid defense in the tournament.
Goal scorers were Jamie Medlock, Valerie Jozef, Alyssa Napolitano, Cristina Peralta and Nicole Pitcavage. Assisting on the goals were Kristen Tubbs, Stephanie Klein and Katie Bayne. Excellent defense was played by Nicole Wenz, Diana Castellana, Maria Massa, Maureen Browne and Melissa Bubelis. Goaltender Alyssa Palma made many exceptional saves. The team, however, missed Emily Cippola. All games were played at Holy Child of Old Westbury. Coach Ray Wenz and assistant coaches Manny Castellana and Stan Pitcavage were very pleased with the team's performance throughout the tournament.
