The Village of Mineola, in cooperation with Winthrop-University Hospital, will again be hosting the Annual Senior Flu and Pneumonia Shot Program.

This program, which has been coordinated by Village Trustee Maryanne Warnecke, will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 8, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Mineola Community Center, 155 Washington Avenue.

Albeit that the program is free for all seniors, you are asked to bring your insurance information with you to your appointment. Your insurance company will be billed but there will be no co-payments

In order to limit the "waiting time," appointments are required. Please call 746-0750 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday to reserve a time.

Flu shot forms are available at the Village Hall, the Mineola Library and these forms will also be available at the Community Center on Nov. 8.

The next meeting of the Board of Trustees will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the Village Hall, 155 Washington Avenue. This meeting, to which the public is invited, will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Preparations for the Mayor's Halloween Festivities are continuing.

There will be Hay Rides, Pony Rides, a Petting Zoo and much more.

Why do drivers speed on some of our residential streets?

Why do drivers fail to come to complete stops at Stop Signs?

I have contacted the 3rd Precinct and asked that the police increase the enforcement of all traffic laws in our village.
