"Until recently, there was no easy answer to that question. But now, the state Health Care Proxy Law lets you designate a health care agent to make such decisions.

Appointing a health care agent is a serious decision."

Since June of 1921, Mineola has been lucky to have Boy Scout Troop 45 serving the boys of our community. Originally chartered to several different organizations, for the past 50 plus years it has called the First Presbyterian Church on Main Street its home. Since 1921, close to 1000 members of the Troop have reached the highest rank a boy can achieve in Scouting, that of the Eagle. As important as the Eagles are, they are but a small portion of the hundreds of young men from our community who have learned about life and leadership and also had a heck of a good time as members of Troop 45. All these boys and the men that they've grown into are the legacy of Troop 45.

On Feb. 24, 2001, Troop 45 is planning a huge 80th Anniversary Celebration Dinner in conjunction with Scouting Anniversary Month. To make this a real Troop 45 Family Affair, they are looking for as many Troop 45 alumni as they can find. If you or a member of your family were a member of Troop 45, they want to hear from you. You can either go to their website and register (http://www.geocities.com/troop45bsa/) or drop them an email (troop45bsa@usa.net) with your name, address, phone and approximate years of membership. If neither of those "online" avenues are available for you, Assistant Scoutmaster Frank D'Elia asks you to drop him a note at 40 Fairfield Avenue in Mineola and they'll make sure you are included in their plans.

Feb. 24, 2001 looks to be a great celebration of 80 years of continuous service to our community. I hope you'll help Troop 45 as they attempt to contact as many alumni as possible.
