Resident's Dance Career Reaches New Heights
For 14 talented girls, when the action on the court takes a momentary break, it is time to shine. When the New Jersey Nets basketball team isn't gliding up and down their home court, its Power N' Motion team is gracefully performing well-choreographed dances with a certain flair that one has come to expect from an NBA basketball game. This is the big time and for the life of a dancer, the chance to perform and take center stage is what makes the hours of practice and the difficulties of auditions well worth it.

Coats for Kids Campaign Is Under Way
The Coats for Kids campaign officially kicked off on Monday, Sept. 25 at Randi Cleaners on Jericho Turnpike in Mineola. The campaign, sponsored by the National Cleaners Association, an organization comprised of 4,000 cleaners, attempts to give clean winter coats to needy children.

Mustangs Start Season on Hot Streak
The Mineola High School boys soccer team upped its league record to 2-0 with a 4-0 shutout of Floral Park. John Sullivan opened the scoring for the Mustangs by converting a corner kick less than two minutes into the game. Jose Lopez and Paul Bispo added goals that staked the Mustangs to a 3-0 halftime lead. Joey Cerulli closed out the scoring late in the second half when he scored his first varsity goal on an assist from Justin Clingo. Coach Paul Pereira lauded the defensive efforts of Andre Mendes and Jonathon Debrich, saying they helped goalkeeper Thomas McPartland earn his third shutout of the season.

Mineola Wizards Keep Rolling
U-11 Girls beat the Garden City Slingshots 1-0 in a well played game on Saturday, Sept. 23 with a goal scored by Jamie Medlock. Goalie Alyssa Palma made many great stops on goal, with another one coming from Melissa Bubelis, keeping the Slingshots from getting on the board. The team as a whole played well. The coaches stated that the girls are really clicking more and more with every game.
