Soccer excitement is hitting the Town of North Hempstead as preparations are being made to host the First Annual North Hempstead Town Soccer Cup, Columbus Day Weekend Oct. 6, 7 and 8.
More than 300 youth soccer teams (ages 8-17) from all over the metropolitan area will participate in games throughout North Hempstead. The North Hempstead Soccer Committee, established by the town to promote soccer in the area, has been working since the beginning of the year to make this initial tournament a tremendous success.
"The public is in for an exciting and competitive weekend for soccer action from some of the best teams in this area," said Councilman Anthony D'Urso of New Hyde Park and an original organizer of the event. "We hope that North Hempstead residents will come out and support our young people who will be competing in this wonderful event," said Town Supervisor May W. Newburger.
The public is invited to attend all of the games. Admission is free of charge. The schedule and location for the games will be as follows:
