Coat Drive Kickoff This Week at Randi's Cleaners
Randi's Cleaners, 300 Jericho Turnpike in Mineola, will be the site of the kickoff of Coats for Kids, a campaign aimed at helping poor and needy children by providing them with clean coats to wear for the cold weather.

Mineola Red Heat off to an Exciting Start
Mineola Red Heat, the U-15 travel soccer team, is off to an exciting start. Coached by Vito Errico and assisted by Robert Franciotti, the Heat had a very close season opener on September 10th against the South Huntington Road Runners. Mineola's early offensive attack resulted in a goal scored by Anderson Osario within the first 10 minutes of the game. South Huntington came roaring back and scored on Mineola 10 minutes later ending the first half with a 1-1 tie. In the second half Anderson Osario scored again giving Mineola a 2-1 lead which the defense and goalie Kevin Franciotti maintained until the last two seconds of the game when South Huntington scored the final goal ending the game with a heartbreaking 2-2 tie.

Mineola Magic off to a Great Start
Mineola Magic, the U-12 travel soccer team, is off to a great start. Coached by John Munson and assisted by Bill Kain, they won their season opener on September 9th shutting out the Hicksville Rising Stars with a score of 2-0. Team goalie Alyssa Glenn and the defense performed perfectly by blocking every goal shot. The first half of the game ended with no score. The Mineola offense saw great performances with Kerri O'Connell and Marisa Jetter each scoring a goal during the second half of the game.
