Later this month, Mineola firefighter Bill Pokorny will be honored for serving 50 years with the Mineola Fire Department. Because of his longevity and dedication to the department, Pokorny will be inducted into the Mineola Fire Department's select 50-Year Club, which only includes seven members. FULL STORY

The Strohm sisters are a lot like other siblings. They live in close proximity to each other. They have formed a close bond so that they are there for each other to lean on in trying times. For the second straight year, the Mineola School District's Board of Education approved a Summer Sports Program for grades three through eight. Each week, a different sport was offered. This year, the program was permitted to add four more sports to the program. Activities that were available included volleyball, wrestling, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls basketball and boys and girls lacrosse. FULL STORY

Mineola Swim Team Night was held on August 21 at the Mineola Pool. The coaches and swim team members were congratulated on a job well done.
