Spending a morning at our wonderful Mineola pool, I had a chance to talk to some of those enjoying the water and the sunshine, including: Thomas McPartland (attendant), Joan Duer, Myra Wangerin, Maria Vasconcelos, Trish Radenberg, Karen Buckley, Domengos Carlos, Armando Goncalves, Nicholas Goncalves, James Beck, Joan Beck, Frank Plastino, J.B. Sinisi, Francine and Robert Abrams, Jaclyn and Brian Abrams, Vangie Panal, Merla Repato, Guy Penny, Domenico Longo, Rose Penny, Vida Ciesla, Annmarie Lubrano, Yolanda Lubrano, Laura Weiler, Jude, Kathy and Laura Ohrtman, Eusebio Rufian-Zilbermann, Dorothy and Terence Timlin and Fred Duer.

Deputy Grand Knight Marcel Chaillol and his wife Cathy spent four days visiting Great Barrington, MA and to celebrate Marcel's birthday.

Good to see Jim Bruno of Washington Avenue back in his old seat at Corpus Christi.

David Borysowski of Andrews Road is a restorer of old cars. He currently has a '64 Bonneville, a '75 Grand Prix and an '84 Caddy. It all comes easy for him as he works as a mechanic at Burns Ford.

Ken and Agnes Lynch enjoyed lunch at the Jericho Diner. They live on Jerome Avenue.

Leo and Dot Lynch (no relation to Ken) were enjoying the Mineola pool on a recent sunny morning. Leo and Dot have been members of the pool since the facility first opened.

Fire Chief Jack Gayson and his wife Karen shared breakfast at the Jericho with daughter and son-in-law Ryan and Wendy Faley. Both couples live in the village.

Later at the same spot we had a chance to talk briefly to Teddy McCormack, Marion McCormack, Mary Jane Deignan and Vera Barrick.

The man tooling around town in the flashy vintage red convertible is Joe Wood of Jackson Avenue.

Brian Hogan, owner of A1 Grand Auto, the new shop on Herricks Road, is a cousin of Tilly McPartland of Wellington Road. Brian's dad was the well-known Mineola man Joseph Hogan.

Maryanne Warnecke gets our vote as a model trustee. She answers phone calls promptly and gets right to the heart of the problem.

Frank Syracuse, the meter enforcer, has a great hobby in woodworking. He has a terrific woodworking shop in his basement. Frank's work is sold on consignment at local shops. He and his wife, Virginia, live on Wellington Road.

Len Kazdan of Colonial Avenue is quite a guy. In spite of having prosthesis on both legs he says he will ski again. Len and Ruth used to be ardent skiers. Ruth was our ace Mineola American reporter for 25 years.

We were sorry to hear that Joe Mannix of Royal Avenue had a bad fall. We hope and pray for a speedy recovery.
