Mittler Ends Stint on Board of Ed
Patricia Mittler ended her seven year tenure on the Mineola Board of Education when she decided not to run for re-election this past May. However, her efforts on the board will be evident even in the future. As improvements are made in the district, namely those having to do with technology, and as the space problems are solved with the construction of the new Willis Avenue school building, it will be, in part, because of the time Mittler has given to the district over recent years.

Resident Honored for Heroic Effort
Less than two days before the coming of the new millennium, Mineola resident Virginia Tufaro, a registered nurse at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, made one final save and it turned out to be perhaps her best one.

Upcoming Park Events
On August 5 and 6, the Shuffleboard Tournament will take place at Wilson Park. Registration began July 24 and ends August 2. On August 12 and 13, the Tennis Tournament willl take place. Registration begins July 31 and ends August 9.

Senior Girls Softball
Mineola won its first playoff game on June 15 against a very strong Glen Oaks team. Juliet Barber pitched five strong innings (4 H, 2 R, 5 K's) and Liz Terezo pitched two stong innings to complete the game.
