In the final game of the T-Ball season, Century 21-Laffey played one of their better games. Both teams decided to have their coaches pitch to their hitters. The boys did quite well.

Century's Danny Hastings, Zachary Englis, Robbie Clarkin, Matt Stephens, Ryan Brown, Stevie Magarero and Victoria Wresch each hit the ball well. Danny had a nice hit that went over the base at first. Robbie Clarkin hit a liner to second. The infield made some nice plays. Zachary Englis, playing pitchers mound, made a nice stop and threw to Robbie Clarkin at first to get a runner.

Tom Wellbrock and Ryan Winters hit the ball real hard for Bairrado Rodizio Restaurant.

Mineola Florist 9, Nassau Chromium 6

On June 24, Mineola Florist defeated Nassau Chromium 9-6 in a minor league playoff game. Joe Spollen started off the game pitching for Nassau Chromium in fine form, striking out the side in the first. Nassau then scored two runs on an RBI ground out by Spollen and an RBI single by Mike Granath.

Mineola Florist scored five in the top of the second to take a 5-2 lead. John Englis, Fred Usma, Mike Anes, Robbie Delbello and Joe Wellbrock began the inning with walks to force in two runs. Gabriel Couto then singled in three but was thrown out at second on a nice relay by Spollen and Paul Easton.

Couto, pitching for Mineola Florist, settled down and struck out four batters in the next two innings. Nassau scored two runs in the fourth, however, on a two-out single by Anthony Morais.

Entering the sixth inning, Mineola Florist held a 6-4 lead. In the sixth, Mineola Florist's Joe Wellbrock tripled to deep right to score three. Nassau scored two in the sixth to make the final 9-6 in favor of Mineola Florist.

For Mineola Florist, Daniel Fitzgerald and Usma were 2-2. Andrew Leno played good defense in right center all game.

Nassau Chromium 7, Mineola Florist 3

On June 26, Mineola Florist and Nassau Chromium played for the minor league championship. Florist finished the regular season in third place but won their first three playoff games. Nassau Chromium finished first in the regular season and had to bear K's Auto to get to the championship round.

Nassau Chromium came out swinging, scoring three in the first and then never looked back. Paul Easton had an RBI single and Joe Spollen drove in two with a single. Anthony Morais pitched three scoreless innings striking out six.

Nassau Chromium scored two more in the bottom of the third on Spollen and Mike Granath RBI singles to take a 5-0 lead.

Mineola Florist scored all of their runs in the fourth on an RBI walk by Fred Usma and a two run single by Andrew Leno. Mineola loaded the bases in the fifth but Spollen came in for Nassau Chromium and recorded the final out.

With thunderstorms looking off to the west, the ground crew worked diligently to repair the soggy field for the highly anticipate MAA Major Division Championship game on Tuesday, June 27.

As the starting time arrived, the field was nearly perfect and the game went off without a hitch. For Barron's Body Works, a team that got solid contributions from every member this season, the culmination of their hard work paid off as they defeated a tough and talented Chamber of Commerce in a fierce battle by a 5-3 score.

Having played each other a total of four times between the regular season and playoffs, these teams knew this game would be a pitcher's duel. Tiago Rodrigues started for Barron's and held Commerce to three runs on just three hits over three innings as Brian Gonzalez pitched a masterful game for the Chamber of Commerce, scattering seven hits over five innings.

After Chamber of Commerce took a 1-0 lead, Barron's struck back with three runs in the bottom of the second. After a single from Justin Gonzalez, Barron's loaded the bases on walks to Joe Bittner and Allen Silit. David Esselborn worked out a walk to force in a run. Robert Maloney fouled off several pitches before hitting a hard single to center to drive home two more.

However, Chamber of Commerce would tie the score in the top of the third when John Cloghessy ripped a double into the gap in right center to plate two runs.

Over the next few innings, the atmosphere became tense as Gonzalez settled into a groove, striking out five of the eight batters he faced and Mick Oswald came in to pitch the final three innings for Barron's, dominating hitters with his fastball.

It looked as though the game would go into extra innings as both teams refused to give up. But in the bottom of the fifth, after a Maloney single, Nelson Lopes, not known for his power, cranked a 2-2 fastball over the fence for a two-run home run, which gave Barron's a 5-3 lead.

Oswald struck out the side in the top of the sixth and Barron's became the first Mineola Major League Division Champions of the new century.

While no official records are kept on such matters, it is believed Barron's set an all-time record with six different players launching home runs over the fence this season. They were Joe Bittner, Marc Dadich, Nelson Lopes, Robert Maloney, Mick Oswald and Tiago Rodrigues. Other members of the team include Sal Cuomo, David Esselborn, Justin Gonzalez and Allen Silit.
