Bond Vote Set For Next Week
With less than a week remaining before the $25.7 million dollar bond referendum goes before voters, the administration and board of education of the Mineola School District attempted to answer any questions residents may have about the bond and provide information to voters that will enable them to make an educated decision.

A Celebration of Life
In recognition of cancer suvivors, Winthrop-University Hospital held its third annual cancer survivors day on June 1 on the grounds of the hospital. The evening, which began at 5 p.m. and ended at 9 p.m., was thought of as a celebration of life for the hundreds in attendance, some of whom have either been treated or are currently receiving treatment for cancer at Winthrop.

In their second meeting of the week, Nassau Chromium motored past K's Auto Repair 10-7. K's got on the board first when Carmine Sarno and Vincent Campanale got aboard, stole two bases each and came home. K's Auto battery of Tommy Flynn and Carmine Sarno kept the Chomies in neutral gear, with Flynn whiffing eight Chrome kids. The Chromies plated one run when David Easton worked out a full-count walk, nabbed a pair of bases, and came home easily on Chris Brostek's triple.

The Mineola Athletic Booster Club completed a fantastic year on Tuesday evening, June 6 when they held their annual Varsity Awards Dinner. We were saddened that athletic Director Anthony Gulli was not able to be with us because of a death in his family. Tony Gulli looks forward each year to this event, as this dinner validates his philosophy that athletics helps develop tomorrow's future leaders.
