Any and all calls from unknown persons are an intrusion of your privacy. You don't have to talk to these callers. You are not being rude by hanging up.
These unsolicited phone calls are, nine times out of 10, trying to sell you something or trying to have you donate monies to a charity.
The callers "pitch" to get you to part with your money is often very convincing. The longer you stay on the phone with these callers, the greater the chance that they will be successful in getting you to either buy the item being pitched or contributing to the "charity." Don't be tempted. Hang up on all such calls.
Many parents are all too familiar with the routine it's bedtime for your child, yet your child has trouble falling asleep or sleeping through the night. This is both frustrating for the parents and unsettling for the children. There are "strategies" that may help you get your child to sleep and stay asleep throughout the night. Winthrop-University Hospital's Parenting Today will present a free lecture, "Sleep Problems in Young Children" on Wednesday, May 3. The program will be held at 7 p.m. at the Winthrop Conference Center, located at 101 Mineola Boulevard in Mineola.
Claudia Meininger Gold, MD, Behavioral Pediatrician at Winthrop Pediatrics Associates, will discuss what you can do about the endless bedtime routine, frequent night walking, and the child who will not stay in bed. The discussion will be followed by a question and answer period.
Please call 663-8302 to make a reservation.
The Junior Fire Department is sponsoring its Annual Car Wash at the Community Center parking lot from 9 a.m. 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 13. Donations are $4 per car.
