The Mineola Athletic Association will be holding it's annual Opening Day parade on Saturday, April 15, at 11 a.m.

The parade route is: Jackson Avenue west to Wardwell Road; north to Jericho Turnpike; east to Mineola Blvd.; south to Second Street; East to Willis Avenue and ending at the Little League Complex.

The MAA programs greatly contribute to making our community a great place to live. Please join your neighbors in these festivities both along the parade route and at the Opening Day ceremonies commencing at noon at the Little League Fields on Willis Avenue.

The 11th Annual Mineola Fair sponsored by the Mineola Chamber of Commerce and the Village of Mineola will be held on Saturday, May 20, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Memorial Park.

Volunteers are needed for this great event. If you can donate a few hours of your time, please call Ms. Ursula Odierna at 294-4071 and advise her of your availability.

Mineola has once again been named as "Tree City USA" by the National Arbor Day Foundation. This is the fifteenth year that Mineola has been recognized by this national organization for its tree planting and tree maintenance programs.

There was an overwhelming response to the mammography service scheduled for April 27.

In light of this response, Assemblywoman Maureen O'Connell will be scheduling another mammography screening within the next few weeks.

For some women, headaches are just annoying, but for others they are incapacitating. Winthrop-University Hospital's free Women's Health Forum will be presenting a seminar, "Heads Up on Headaches", on Wednesday, April 26. This program will be held at the Conference Center, 101 Mineola Boulevard, and will begin at 7 p.m.

Kimberly Galante, RN, FNP, Division of Neurology at Winthrop will discuss the causes, diagnosis and treatment of headaches. Stephanie Musso, RN.

Admission is free but seating is limited. To reserve your place, please call 1-888-53-WOMEN.

The Board of Zoning and Appeals will hold a public hearing on Thursday, April 27, at 8 p.m. at the Village Hall, 155 Washington Avenue, Mineola.

The following cases are scheduled to be heard: 19 Crandall Drive, Inerpreet & Raminder Soni, applicants; 276 Hill Street, Simon & Hakima Jagdeo, applicants; 243 Cleveland Avenue, Joseph Anayati, applicant; 165 Roslyn Road, Charles Ribando, applicant; 347 McNeil Place, Laura Leitman, applicant.
