Board of Ed Works on Bond Proposal and Adoption Set for May 4
After the 16.5 percent of residents within the Mineola school district responded to a district survey on what should be included in a possible bond proposal, the Board of Education and the district witnessed sufficient enough support from the community to justify creating another bond proposal. The Board of Education worked on analyzing the survey's results and announced May 4 as the date a bond will be adopted by the board and presented to the public at a work session to take place at Mineola Middle School.
A Night of Honor
After the Mineola Middle School Jazz Chorus concluded their singing and the dignitaries had been announced during the village's first organization night of the new century, the imminent change the board faced since election day last month was put into effect. Linda Fairgrieve was sworn in as a trustee, thus beginning at least a two year tenure on the board while Maryanne Warnecke began serving a fifth consecutive two-year term.
Mustang Sports News
The Lady Mustang lacrosse team has dominated their opponents early in the season. With four wins, the girls are playing with a tremendous amount of confidence, and gain more confidence with each game. Going into the season, there was little doubt that we would score goals. The Mustangs returned experienced goal scorers in Sam Didrikson, Katherine Hock, Jamie Carter, Deena Veezo and Danielle Adams. All of these players are off to a great start so far this season, and will prove to be a force to be reckoned with because of the addition of first year varsity players Mary Warren, Vicky Montalbanno and Nikole Tsabasis.
Mineola Summer Sports Program
For the second straight year, the Mineola School District will be offering a summer sports program for younger students. The program is designed and delivered by the certified coaching staff, with the assistance of Mineola student-athletes. This is a program that will create interest, expose kids to high quality instruction, provide students with opportunities to see where their skills and interest lie, work hard on skill development and it will be fun.
