I do not understand what motivates a person to deface someone else's property with graffiti.

The cost of removing graffiti results in an unnecessary expenditure of monies where graffiti offenses are perpetrated by youthful offenders. The parents may be held liable for the acts of their children and required to pay the clean up costs.

As an alternative to a monetary fine, the law provides that, if the owner of the defaced property agrees, the defendant(s) restore the property to its original condition by means of his or her own labor.

Help fight graffiti ­ If you observe someone defacing property please call 911.

Our laws require that one pick up the waste of their animals. If you are not currently doing so, I strongly encourage you to clean up after your pets. The Third Precinct has been enforcing the speed limits in various areas of our Village. Many of the offenders are, I am sorry to say residents of our Village. Please observe all the traffic laws.

The media has had numerous reports regarding mosquitoes. The following is a list of what you can do to reduce mosquito breeding near your homes:

1. Change water in birdbaths at least every four days.

2. Clear rain gutters and make sure that all the water in the gutters fully drains.

3. Clip tall grass or weeds in or about your property.

4. Remove any and all water for pool and/or boat covers.

5. Drain water from boats.

If you are interested in attracting butterflies to your home, the Butterfly Club of America will help you to do so.
