The winter sports season is now over. Most of the Mustang teams were very competitive and represented themselves and their school community well. The boys basketball team has made the division playoffs, the girls and boys bowling teams made it to the County Championships and the wrestling team is currently in the qualifying meets for the county championship. Not too bad for little old Mineola High School, huh? Congratulations to all the athletes for their hard work and dedication. We are very proud of you!

The following highlights will summarize the end of season competition for some of our Mustang teams. As the winter sports wind down, the spring sports coaches have already had their pre-season meetings and they will begin their workouts in the next few weeks. It's hard to believe that in a few short weeks we will be hearing the crack of the baseball bat.

On Feb. 4, the girls' varsity bowling team concluded its regular season with an 11-0 shutout of Port Washington. Lauren Landy, Joanna Errico, Jennifer Pirrone and Christina Schulze combined to throw a new three-game conference high score of 2,064 pins.

Both the varsity and JV teams finished the regular season in second place in their respective conferences.

The boys varsity basketball team won their third straight game beating Bethpage 54-43. Stan Smith scored 29 points with 12 rebounds. This is the 10th game that he scored double figure points and rebounds. Matt Damon added 13 rebounds with five assists and four points while Dave Terezo contributed 13 points.
