The Corpus Christi ushers held their annual Christmas party at Eleanor Rigbys. The ushers were honored by the attendance of Fathers Ken Winkler and Bob Batule. Our delightful and attentive waitress Deidre Stav made the party a real success.

About 1,300 persons attended the beautiful program of Christmas music by the Nassau Pops and the Mineola Choral Society. Leader Lou Panacciulli made some changes in the program which made it even better than in previous years. The entire Corpus Christi Church was filled with all the balcony seats taken and hundreds standing in the back.

Assembly member Maureen O'Connell, who was born in the village tells us that she can remember standing on her porch as a child hoping to catch a glimpse of Frank Sinatra when he appeared at the SanSuSan. The SanSuSan was a popular nightclub in the east end some 40 years ago. Maureen lived on Evelyn Rd. The SanSuSan, incidentally, was the first meeting place of the Mineola Chamber of Commerce.

We could hardly believe the bad news that Mary Krzeminski of Brown St. had died. We saw Mary and Ed at breakfast at the Jericho Diner the very day she died.
