On behalf of myself and the members of the Board of Trustees, I would like to take this opportunity to extend to our residents our best wishes for a safe and joyful Thanksgiving.
During the holiday season I would like to encourage our residents to remember those who don't enjoy the benefits that most of us have. Remembering those in need heightens our enjoyment of this time of the year.
The Mineola Varsity Football Team is playing Garden City on Saturday night, Nove. 20, for the Championship.
Earlier this season, at Garden City's field, Mineola beat Garden City and I know that all the young men on Mineola's team will give 150 percent on Saturday night to be victorious once again.
The varsity football team's record to date is 8 - 2 (soon to be 9 -2) and I would like to recognize all those who have worked diligently to achieve such an outstanding record:

The Village Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held on Friday, Dec. 3, at the Community Center, 155 Washington Avenue. The festivities will commence at 6 p.m. and continue till 9 p.m.
During the year, our recycling program collected 2,487 tons of bottles, compost, cans, plastics and newspapers from commercial and residential locations.
The savings to our residents because of the recycling was in excess $160,000.

The Cornerstone of the Church of the Nativity was laid and construction began in December 1899.
The Church is the oldest public use building in Mineola and has the oldest stain glass windows.
The Church currently is an active community center. In addition to Sunday services, the Church has A.A. Meetings three nights a week, a Nursery and Pre-K School, Art Classes, Counseling and Bible Studies.
Archaeologist, JoAnn McLean will be presenting at the Garvies Point Museum on Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m., a talk on numerous topics, including who was here before the settlers; what evidence is there of historical occupation and the How and Why of Archaeology.
