Pauline V. Gemmelli, 93, of East Williston, died on Oct. 22, 1999. Wife of the late John J. Mother of Mercedes A. Clifton and Richard P. Gemmelli. Grandmother and great-grandmother of many. Arrangements were made by the Bayport-Blue Point Funeral Home, Bayport. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Snows RC Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery. Herbert R. Yabsley, 83, of Glen Head, died suddenly on Oct. 13, 1999 at home. Born in Plymouth, England Aug. 13, 1916, he graduated from Westbury High School and Roosevelt Aviation School. He began his career with Pan Am Airlines in 1944 as a mechanic at LaGuardia Airport and later became manager of The Fifth Pod Engine Operations at JFK Airport retiring in 1980. Beloved husband of Dagmar Wright Yabsley. Loving father of Richard (Dayna) and Dagmar Mackay (Donald). Grandfather of Carlie, Jason and Sarah Anne.
He was a life member of the Oyster Bay Power Squadron and also a member of the Pan Am Historical Foundation and Rhinebeck Aerodrome Museum. Herbert was respected for his knowledge and ability and will be remembered as a craftsman and mentor of many skills and trades. He enjoyed sailing, traveling, gardening, fishing, woodcrafting, model boat building, rollerskating and all things mechanical.
A memorial service was held at the Sea Cliff United Methodist Church. Interment Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Sea Cliff United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
