The Mineola American published an article in the "Desk of the Mayor" section on Sept. 1, entitled "Attention Veterans and Families of Veterans." The article indicated Congress passed a bill which entitled certain veterans a dividend on their G.I. Insurance. After submitting the necessary information to the Veterans Center in Philadelphia, PA. I received, as did several other veterans a card from the Veterans Center indicating Congress did not pass any such bill and the entire article was a hoax. Articles such as this should be verified prior to publication.

I would suggest a follow-up article in the "Desk of the Mayor" section correcting the misinformation.
