Our elderly neighbor, Blanche Paris, suffered a bad fall while walking in her garden. Blanche sustained a fractured hip. Her neighbors and many friends in the Leisure Club are hoping for her speedy recovery.

The village really came through during the recent hurricane. A neighbor, across the street, had a huge limb fall covering most of her lawn and front stoop. The village responded to a call and was there within a few minutes. An hour later the limb was cut down and not a trace remained.

Alice Grom has worked for 23 years at the Jericho (formerly the Dorian) Diner. Before that she worked at Howard Johnson's. She and her husband, Stanley, who was a highway patrolman for 33 years, live on Arlington Street.

Our older son, Richard, executive editor of Entertainment Weekly, and his wife, Laurie, had dinner in Garden City with author Nelson DeMille and his wife, Ginny. Nelson, nationally famous, is the author of many books, including Plum Island and Gold Coast.
