What a delightful lady Eileen Browne is. She is the owner of Irish Imports on Willis Avenue, Williston Park. She has gifts from every part of the Emerald Isle from Donegal to Cork, from the Aran Islands to Dublin and all parts in between. Eileen's shop is full of merchandise and if she doesn't have it, she will get just what you are looking for.

While out in Greenport we met Dan and Faye Kelleher, who used to live on Marcellus Road. For the past 13 years they have been residing in Mattituck. Dan was born in Mineola and Faye was born in Mattituck. One of their daughters, Maureen, still lives in Mineola at the Richlee Garden Apartments. Some may remember Dan's dad, Charlie, who was president of the First National Bank of Mineola 50 years ago. That was the first bank in the village and was located across from what is now Fox's.

Wally Pipp told Yankee Manager Muller Huggins that he couldn't play first base on a summer day in 1925 because of a headache. Huggins replaced him with Lou Gehrig. Pipp never came back as Gehrig played first base every day for the next 14 years, 2,130 consecutive games.
