Something has been bothering me since this whole pool business started.

I've lived in Mineola almost 30 years, along with my husband and three children (two of whom are now married with two children each). I've paid my taxes to the village, voted, supported the pool when my children were younger (as they got older the beaches were their thing), etc. A couple of years ago, "Bingo" - the pool was going to be free to Mineola homeowners as the repair and renovation for the pool would come out to pennies a day and would be in our village taxes. When time came for opening of the pool, "Bingo" again. We homeowners have to pay $5 per person (in each family) a year for our pass. Oh well, let's call it miscellaneous expense. But everyone who lives in Mineola has the same privileges. There is something called passes, which each family in Mineola is entitled to for their guest. Each family is entitled to four passes, which consist of 24 admittances to the pool. After this is used up each family's guest has to pay $7 adult, $5 children.

I have two married daughters with their children, making a total of eight persons. Where do they go on weekends? To grandma's house, of course. With the admittance pass, they would only be allowed three weekends from the opening and closing of the pool. I calculated about 11 weekends . It would cost my children, should they go to the pool every weekend at $48 each weekend, $384.

When I tried last year and spoke to Angelo S., I not only found him not giving me an explanation, but he was very arrogant. Therefore, I ask, "Why do those renting in Mineola (legal or illegal, and there are many) have the same privileges as we homeowners who pay taxes for the pool. Why can't homeowning families just pay $3 per person anytime to use the pool?
