On some of my walks around our village, I marvel at the uniqueness of each house and its garden.
Though the lack of rain has made brown grass prevalent and conservation of water makes it even fashionable, each house seems to have saved its flowers from the dryness.
Midsummer is here and the pool beckons still. It's wonderfully cool and refreshing and there's nothing like an evening swim. The young people work very hard and are conscientious cleaners as well as excellent lifeguards.
Mineola remains a wonderful community to be a part of. In the fall and winter months, when one concentrates more on what we can do to make it an even better place, there will always be fond memories of the Mineola Fair, the concerts in the park, the play area enjoyed by young families, each ones favorite blossoms and of course the marvelous feeling of a splash in the pool.
To all those responsible for making Mineola such a pleasant place, I thank you.
