My heart compels me to respond to letters personally attacking my husband, Scott Fairgrieve. I wish to make the following points.

1) My husband is not a malcontent. He has done so much for this village because he cares. Losing a close election should not change how one cares about a village. If it does, one ran for personal reasons. He doesn't have to be paid as a trustee to be an active participant in the village. He is an active participant in the Historical Society, Chamber of Commerce, Knights of Columbus, Kiwanis, Mineola Road Runners Club and has helped sponsor charitable fund raisers and events for individuals and organizations. Scott heads the Mineola Mustang Run, which has raised so much money for village organizations. He does all this when he often works seven days a week at his regular job.

2) The attack letters did not dispute any of the facts in his letter, which he has documented proof of. It is the typical pattern of the Village Party and its ardent supporters to personally attack my husband every time he presents and idea or fact. It's called changing the subject. He's been made out to be a pornographer and criminal in the past, which is ludicrous. In 1994, rumors went around that he was a homosexual and my children and myself were there for window dressing. Again ludicrous, let me tell you I know. This year he is a malcontent. What will be next?

3) Myhusband just requested the village board for a resolution concerning their support of obtaining a share of the county's sale tax revenue. If the village board supports the issue, what are the negatives of passing a simple resolution? Could it be a certain mayor's county job?

4) Residents should thank my husband. He informs them what the village doesn't print in their propaganda publication. Don't forget the contents of village meetings are not published. You don't know what was said or passed. Did you know the following?

* Our village taxes are going up 12 percent . Who knows what the collective rate will be when this board has been in office for 12 years (2006)?

* The average home water rate increase was approximately 15 percent this year.

* The village debt is now over $15 million, which is at record levels.

To conclude, let's stop this personal attack on my husband and address the specific merits of his proposals. Keep to the issues and stop the personal attack switch-a-roo!

Linda Massa Fairgrieve
